Born on 7 February 1956, Agadir

Françoise Castex is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament for the South West of France with the Socialist Party. She has a master's degree in arts, a Diploma of Advanced Studies in the Social Field (DHEPS) and a Postgraduate diploma in educational science.

She worked as adult and youth educational advisor at the Gers Departemental Youth and Sports Directorate (1981-1998); as advisor in the office of the chairman of the Gers Department Council (1998-2000); as special advisor for education cooperation in the Foreign Ministry (2002-2004).

She is a member of the Socialist Party national council since 1990; a Chairwoman of the Gers League of Human Rights (1990-1998); a member of the Central committee of the League of Human Rights (1996-1998)
