The aim of the European Parliament Working Group on Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Development (EPWG) is to raise awareness of the inter-related issues of development, sexual and reproductive health, the response to HIV/AIDS, gender equality and poverty eradication and to provide a forum for ongoing dialogue within the European Parliament and the other European Union institutions on these issues.
In order to raise awareness, the EPWG:
- facilitates keynote presentations from expert speakers
- facilitates MEP visits to sexual and reproductive healthcare programmes
- hosts events (see also EPWG activities list under the EPWG Events section)
- launches the annual UNFPA State of World Population report
- maintains and develops contacts with parliamentary groups worldwide
- publishes a bi-monthly Newsletter on its activities.
